En effet, les algues sont sources de minéraux : calcium, magnésium, silicium, sélénium, phosphore, cuivre, fer, iode, sodium, potassium, sulfate, cuivre, cobalt, chrome, chlorure, zinc et manganèse. De polysaccharides : laminarine, acide alginique et fucoïdane. Polyphénols. De lipides : glycosyl, diacyl, glycérides, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, acide eicosapentaénoïque (Omega3), acide arachidonique (Omega6). Stérols : fucostérol, β-sitostérol. De pigments : fucoxanthine, zéaxanthine, lutéine, violaxanthine, néoxanthine, β-carotène, squalène. Ainsi que de multiples vitamines : D, C, B1, B2, B3, B6, provitamine A, acide folique, choline, vitamine K.
